GE’s Scalable LED Area Lights Bring Lots of Options for Parking Lots of All Sizes
March 12, 2013
EAST CLEVELAND, Ohio — March 12, 2013 — (NYSE:GE) — Adding LED outdoor lighting to parking lots and spaces of all sizes is now easier than before with GE’s new Evolve™ LED Scalable Area Lights. This next generation of GE’s award-winning LED outdoor lighting technology features even more photometric options for illuminating outside areas and is offered in two color temperatures to suit user preference.
“GE’s engineers took the approach of reducing fixture size incrementally to create a portfolio of four Evolve LED area lights to specify according to the size of virtually any parking lot, big or small,” says Tim Miller, senior product manager for GE Lighting. “Using a 5:1 spacing ratio with fixture poles, it’s now possible to retrofit outdoor spaces originally optimized only for HID with new LED outdoor lighting.”
Designed with retailers, auto dealers, commercial property owners, mall operators and many other businesses in mind, GE’s ecomagination℠ Evolve LED Scalable Area Lights deliver 30-percent energy savings compared with traditional high-intensity discharge or metal halide lighting, and are rated for 50,000-hours life (more than 10 years based on 12 hours of operation per day). This amounts to four times the recommended service interval of a standard HID system, reducing the frequency and expense of maintenance.
Similar to GE’s scalable LED fixtures for lighting roadways, Evolve LED Scalable Area Lights use reflective — not refractive — technology to achieve a unique optical design that offers superior vertical illumination and uniformity, minimizing glare and wasteful spill light as fixture lumens increase (up to 25,500).
GE’s new LED outdoor fixtures have already been recognized with a “Retailer Top Pick” award at the 2012 NACS Show. NACS (National Association of Convenience Stores) is an international trade association representing more than 2,200 retail and 1,600 supplier company members.
