From the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy:
Making next-generation biofuels from non-food plant sources an affordable #energy option for #Americanmotorists requires reducing the cost of harvesting the corn stalks, grasses, and other plants used to make them. As shown in the infographics below, our office advances commercial feedstock harvesting equipment through research and development partnerships. Examples of the resulting innovations include a larger bale picking truck that loads three times more corn stover by picking up two bales at a time, and a new feller buncher that harvests several trees at once with a swinging cutter head.
