From the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy:
These wood chips are among a group of non-edible plants such as corn husks, stalks, and leaves that can be used to make cellulosic #ethanol and advanced #biofuels for your car and our military. Using biofuels instead of petroleum can improve #US national security, the #economy, and the #environment. But developing affordable and widely available biofuels for consumers is a large task. That’s why the Energy Department works with seven different federal agencies to coordinate biofuel research and development activities.
