Hydropower

From U.S. Dept. of Energy Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy:

When most people think of #hydropower, they think of massive dams like the Hoover Dam on the Colorado River between #Arizona and #Nevada. But our biggest hydroelectric capability could come in much smaller packages. Small or “low-head” hydropower facilities, such as the dam pictured below, can generate power from small rivers and streams, helping to increase renewable #energy generation across #America. We announced two new projects in #Michigan and#Pennsylvania today to support the use of advanced materials and manufacturing techniques in the development of “low-head” hydropower technologies.
