Nicknamed the “Millennium Falcon,” researchers from the University of Washington, are using research funds from our office to develop an underwater robot to monitor the interaction between marine life and wave and tidal #energy equipment. Equipped with a sonar system, cameras and microphones, this device will allow for the real time monitoring of aquatic organisms. While this “Millennium Falcon” may not reach warp speed in true Star Wars fashion, it will help the #USresponsibly capture the clean, renewable energy in our waves, currents and tides.
