Tires and Energy Efficiency

From the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy:

Maintaining proper tire pressure is one of the most important—but often overlooked—maintenance tasks for #vehicle owners. It’s also one of the least expensive ways to increase vehicle #fuel economy and save #drivers money. As part of our effort to improve fuel mileage for American motorists, the Energy Department provided funding support to The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company to develop a self-regulating tire system that automatically manages air pressure in tires and reflates them to optimal pressure while you drive. This award-winning technology, which is currently being tested in vehicle fleets, has the potential to save#consumers money and help reach #US goals for fuel economy and emissions. Self-inflating tires—just one of EERE’s Energy Impacts. http://go.usa.gov/3BPTz.
