Increasing Energy Efficiency

The industrial sector consumes more than a quarter of the #electricity produced in the #US and is projected to increase its use by approximately 30% by 2040. We’re working to make electric machines (pictured below) often used in #manufacturing more #energy efficient. This week, the Energy Department announced $20 million in new funding to spur the development of megawatt-class industrial motors and drives that use state-of-the-art power electronics (i.e., wide bandgap devices) to achieve high-speed, high power-density designs to increase efficiency.
